Acai: Pronounced a-sai-ee
If you’ve heard of the word ‘superfoods’, it’s likely you’ve also heard of the increasingly popular Acai bowls; packed with the most super of superfood ingredients, and tonnes of powerful health benefits.
Acai berries are indigenous to Brazil, and have been used here for thousands of years to maintain health. The berries contain powerful antioxidants, fiber, iron, and calcium just to name a few essential nutrients. They contribute to the health of skin, digestion, metabolism, have an anti ageing and immune boosting effect, improve brain function, and boost energy levels significantly.
The most common ingredients found in an Acai bowl are acai powder or frozen acai berries and frozen banana. They’re usually topped with granola, and contain other unnatural sugary substances like concentrated juices – which is why many acai bowls you’ll find in cafés aren’t really all that super at all… By making your own, you can alter it depending upon what it is you feel the need for that day. Coconut, raw cacao, and even spinach all make it into this bowl, making it a truly delicious and nutritious way to start the day….

½ tsp ground ginger
