3 Minute Grain-Free Brownie Bowl

Whilst the debate over whether grains are good or bad for us continues, there’s no debate over the fact that knowing how to make a healthy, delicious brownie in 3 minutes is something everyone’s life needs….

Perfect as a post-exercise top up, a healthy treat or tasty dessert, this recipe could also serve as a pretty well-rounded and super quick breakfast. Similar to my Healthy Banana Brownie recipe, this is even more simple, and far quicker. A godsend for when you need a brownie, and you need it NOW.

The recipe uses a microwave, so if you’ve sworn against using them, use the healthy banana brownie recipe instead. Suitable for anyone following a paleo, gluten free, dairy-free, grain free or vegetarian diet!

Ingredients

(serves 1 – 2)

  • 1 banana
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp non-dairy milk

Optional:

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1 handful berries

1 handful frozen or fresh berries

How To

Blend all ingredients (other than the berries if you’re using them)

Pour mixture into a bowl (add the berries here if you’re using them)

Place in the microwave for 3 minutes. Check after 3 minutes and add another 30 seconds at a time if it needs to be cooked a little further.

Use an oven glove or tea towel to remove the bowl as it’ll be piping hot

Scoop out and cut in half, or devour straight from the bowl!

Works perfectly with home made yoghurt, or this vegan ice cream

Enjoy!
